Supplemental Instruction

complementary help alongside the regular lectures

SI stands for Supplementary Instruction which implies complementary help alongside the regular lectures students attend. We as SI leaders have completed the courses earlier and are now in our second year of the Service Management Masters programme.

What is SI?

The concept of SI is to meet with the new students and have general discussions in order to gain deeper understanding about the topics. Through our SI session we motivate and encourage the students to take pride in what they are studying and guide them in the right direction.

As second-year students, we are able to show with confidence that it is indeed possible to excel in their studies. We are ready to lend a helping hand, we have the experience and are able to give new, different perspectives on the course. Additionally, we truly believe that SI is a great asset to students and can help them achieve great results.

How does it work?

The sessions take place on campus where we book rooms every week or fortnight. We are available on Facebook where we post important information and where the students are welcome to contact us at any time, and of course we welcome spontaneous chats on Campus.

We also work side by with the course leader, program administrator and SI coordinator who assist us with the organisational aspects of holding and running the SI sessions.

About SI

  • Questions can be asked freely
  • Students learn new ways of studying
  • Mistakes can be made freely
  • Students are prepared for lectures, seminars, and assignments
  • Study tips are shared by second year master’s students (SI leaders)

SI is free and open to all first-year master’s students enrolled here at the Department. Each year, the Department of Service studies selects second year master’s who undergo training to become SI leaders and are tasked with the responsibility of organizing each SI session.
