History of the QMOD-ICQSS Conferences

The 22nd QMOD was held at Qbus Conference Hotel, Krakow, Poland 13-15 October 2019 organized by Lund University and Linköping University. Around 180 academics and professional  presentations from 30 countries have taken place during the conference. The full program can be downloaded here:

The 21 st QMOD was hels in Cardiff, Wales 22-24, August, 2018 organized by Lund Univerdity, Linköping University, hosted by Cardiff University. Around 160 academic and professional presentations from 30 countries have taken place during the conference. The full program can be downloaded here:

The 20th QMOD was held 4-7 August, 2017 organized by Lund University and Linköping University. The conference took place at Konventum, Helsingör, Denmark.  Over 200 participated and around 160 papers were presented. The full program can be downloaded here:

The 19th QMOD was held in Rome, 2016 September 21-23 organized by Lund University, Linköping University, Italien Academy of Commodity Science and Roma tre University. Around 160 papers were presented. The full programme can be downloaded here:

The 18th QMOD was held in Seoul, 2015 October organized by Lund University, Linköping university and the Korean Society for Quality Management, hosted by University of Yonsei. Around 150 papers were presented. The final programme can be seen here. You can also download

The 17th QMOD was held in Prague, Czech Republic, 2014 (Sep. 3-5) organized by Lund University and Linköping university, hosted by University of Economics, VSE, Prague. 152 papers were presented with over 200 participants. The final programme can be downloaded here. 

The 16th QMOD was held in Portoroz, Slovenia, 2013 (September 4-6) organized by Lund University and Linköping university, hosted by Maribor University. App. 220 participated the conference and 147 papers were presented. The final programme can be downloaded here.  

The 15th QMOD was held in Poznan, Poland, 2012 (September 5-7) organized by Lund University and Linköpings university, hosted by Poznan University of Technology. Dovista group and 11 top leaders of the Dovista concern  from Denmark provided pre conference learning lab. Over 200 participated the conference and 136 papers were presented. The 14th QMOD was held in San Sebastian, Spain, 2011 (August 29-31) organized by Lund University and Linköpings University. The conference was hosted by TECNUN, University of Navara. The 13th QMOD was held in Cottbus, Germany, 2010 (August 30 -Sep. 1) organized by Lund University and Linköpings university. The conference was hosted by Brandenburg University of Technology, Cottbus. Under the main conference theme of Learnability, Innovability and Sustainability, app. 100 papers have been presented. The 12th QMOD was held in Verona, 2009 (August 27-29) jointly organised by Lund University, Linköping University, Verona University and Toulon University. As the International Journal of Quality and Service Sciences (IJQSS, Chief editor prof. Su Mi Dahlgaard-Park) became a partner of the annual QMOD conference, the 12th QMOD conference also adopted the title of International Conference on Quality and Service Sciences (ICQSS). The 11th QMOD was held in Helsingborg, 2008 (August 20-22) jointly organised by Linköpings University, Lunds University, Campus Helsingborg. The main conference theme was Attaining Sustainability. The 10th QMOD was held in Helsingborg, 2007 (June 18-20) jointly organised by Linköpings University, Lunds University, Campus Helsingborg and Helsingborg City. The main conference theme was Dreaming about Excellence - Learning from the Past and Architecturing the Future. 240 participated and about 170 speakers from 38 countries have made presentations.  QMOD 2007 Electronic conference proceedings can also be downloaded.

The 9th QMOD was held in Liverpool, 2006 (August 08-10) jointly organised by Linköpings University and Lunds University, Campus Helsingborg hosted by Liverpool John Moores University. The conference was supported by the city of Liverpool. The main conference theme was Creativity, Governance and Transformation - the Building blocks for Excellence. 

The 8th QMOD held in Palermo, 2005 (June 29-01 July) organised by Linköpings University and hosted by University of Palermo. The conference was supported by Oasi Maria SS, Institute for Mental Retardation and Brain Aging, Palermo provincia Regional, Regione Siciliana, Parco Scientifico Technologico Della Sicilia  and city of Palermo. The main conference theme was Creating Values for People, Organisations and Societies.

 The 7th QMOD was held in Monterrey, Mexico, 2004 (August 4-6) organised by Linköpings University and hosted by Technologico De Monterrey. The conference theme was Management Challenge of the New Millenium.

The 6th QMOD was held in Paris, France, 2003 (October 02-03) organised by Linköpings University, hosted by CNAM (Conservatoire national des Arts Et Metiers), Ensam (I'Ecole Nationale Superieure d'Arts et& Metiers) and I' Afitep et I'Institut national des telecommunications. The conference theme was Sustainable Development. See the list of speakers and conference programme.

The 5th QMOD was held in Pusan, South Korea, 2002 (October 29-31) organized by Linköping University and sponsored by Pusan Metropolitan City, Korean Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Energy, Korean Society for Quality Management, Korean Standard Association. The conference main theme was Building People and Organisational Excellence. See the conference programme with list of speakers in english sessions.  Parallel with the english sessions there were korean sessions and total number of participants were app. 300.

The 4th QMOD was held in Linköping, Sweden 2001 (September 12-14),   organised by Linköping University with support from Linköping city. The conference main theme wasBuilding People and Organisational Excellence. See the conference programme with list of speakers.

The 3rd QMOD conference was held in Århus, Denmark, 2000 (August 20-22), organised by Århus School of Business, supported by Århus City and the Danish Ministry of Industry. Grundfoss A/S Denmark and Post Denmark were main sponsors. The conference changed it's name to QMOD (Quality Management and Organisational Development) as most researchers and conference participants focused on micro aspects of management rather than structural and macro aspects. 

The 2nd QMED conference was held in Bled, Slovenia, 1999 (September 01-03), organised by Århus School of Business and Slovenian Ministry of Technology and Industry, sponsored by Danfoss, ISS Servicesystem, Hotel Igralnice Turizem, KRKA, Iskra Avtoelektrika d.d. & Trimo. The conference was held under QMED (Quality Management and Economic Development).

The 1st  QMED conference was held in Zhengzhou, China, 1997 (September 08-10). The organization of the conference was realised due to the generous financial sponsorship from The Lego Group, Denmark. The conference was held under the title of QMED (Quality Management and Economic Development).
